Petric: "This is an important victory for us"

Bari, Italy, September 13, 2018 – In the late match of the second competition day at PalaFlorio in Bari, Serbia locked horns with Cameroon. Drazen Luburic and Nemanja Petric helped Serbia cruise to a 3-0 victory to get back on track after their 2-3 loss to USA on Wednesday night.

Nemanja Petric, captain of Serbia: “This is an important victory for us. After the loss against the United States, it was important for us to win. We are happy with this payback. At the beginning, we made things hard for ourselves, but we edged ahead at the end of the first set. In the next two sets, we played top-level volleyball and we beat our rivals without any problems. The fight for a spot in the next round continues and you can be sure that we will fight until the end. We have a large and high-level line-up, and we will do our utmost in order to make it to the second round.”

Yvan Kody, spiker of Cameroon: "As we started the match, we were too insecure while facing such a strong team as Serbia is. After losing the first set, we made some mistakes, which determined the eventual result of this fixture. The match against Australia is very important now. It would be enough to win at the tie-break in order to qualify for the next round, which is our goal in this tournament.”
