Speraw: "There is a great satisfaction in our team since we ended as the first-ranked team in Pool C"

Bari, Italy, September 18, 2018 – It had to be a matter of formality and so it was, indeed. USA beat Tunisia 25-12, 25-18, 25-13 to keep first place in Pool C as the men around head coach John Speraw finished their campaign in Bari with a perfect record of five wins in as many matches.

John Speraw, head coach of the United States: “There is a great satisfaction in our team since we ended as the first-ranked team in Pool C. This round was really difficult but we caught a good start and kept our pace until the last match while performing even better and better. Serving is our ace in the hole. We must keep on working hard with the same intensity and remain focussed as usual, match after match.”

Antonio Giacobbe, head coach of Tunisia: “This evening we faced a very strong team, who legitimated their leadership in Pool C, thanks to their refined and efficient game. I have some regrets about this participation in the World Championship, but we have to look ahead and to have clearer ideas about our goals and plans for the future. Our agenda will be busy next year, indeed. We look forward to taking on the 2019 Men’s African Volleyball Championship as well as the FIVB World Olympic Qualification Tournament. My predictions for this competition? If the United States keep this top-level pace, they will certainly be an option for the title along with Russia and Italy.”
