Toniutti: My dream was to be a professional volleyball player

Lausanne, Switzerland, November 29, 2017 - Two stars of the French national team, setter Benjamin Toniutti and opposite Stephen Boyer talk all things volleyball in an interview filmed at the FIVB Volleyball Men's World Grand Champions Cup in Japan in September.

"My family was like a volleyball family. So I was in the gym when I was like this [small]. For me it was my dream to become a professional volleyball player," said Toniutti. "It's not easy to say that I am one of the best setters. Everybody says this because we won a lot with the national team and I win also with my club. But I think I won a lot because I have with me a lot of good players."

France will be among the favourites at the FIVB Volleyball Men's World Championship in Italy and Bulgaria from September 10 to 30, 2018. Coach Laurent Tillie's men will learn which teams they meet in the first round when the draw takes place in Florence, Italy on Thursday.

Toniutti will also be in action at the FIVB Volleyball Men's Club World Championship from December 12 to 17 with Polish champions ZAKSA Kedzierzyn-Kozle. Still only 21, Boyer continues to fine-tune his skills with Chaumont VB 52 Haute Marne. The French champions will take on PGE Skra Belchatow when they begin their CEV Champions League campaign in December. Skra Belchatow is the second of two clubs representing Poland at the Men's Club World Championship next month.
