World Championship trophy visits Rome

 

Rome, Italy, April 29, 2018 – The FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship trophy visited Rome this weekend giving local children and fans the chance to see the coveted trophy up close.



The event was held on the occasion of the Franco Favretto memorial which gathered children to play volleyball in the Italian capital.

The event featured 6,000 children playing in the historic Via dei Fori Imperiali – a road at the heart of the capital that connects the famous Roman landmarks of the Colosseum and the Piazza Venezia.



Italian volleyball great Andrea Luchetta showed the children the basics of volleyball and joined them in photos with the World Championship trophy.



The FIVB Men’s World Championship will be co-hosted by Italy and Bulgaria from September 9 to 30. The Italian capital will host the World Championship's opening match between Italy and Japan at the spectacular Foro Italico.
