African community stands behind Cameroon in Bari

Bari, Italy, September 12, 2018 – Cameroon caught a flying start to their World Championship campaign at PalaFlorio in Bari as the ‘Lions’ stormed to a 3-0 victory in the African derby that opened the programme of Pool C on Wednesday early afternoon.

Team Cameroon enjoyed the loud and partisan support provided by a large group of African fans representing different nationalities, who came together to root for Cameroon with the very same passion and enthusiasm.

Godwin, one of the most raucous fans, stressed how much he enjoyed the match with Tunisia and especially supporting his favourite players from the stands of PalaFlorio.

Born in Nigeria, Godwin did not stop rooting for Cameroon until the end of the match with Tunisia. “We are all from the African community and we live in Bari. Our group includes people from Cameroon, Nigeria and Ivory Coast but we all share the very same sense of belonging to Africa,” Godwin said. “Therefore, we just wanted to make sure that the Cameroonian players would feel our presence and closeness. We are obviously happy that they started the World Championship with such a comprehensive victory.”
