final match in the 2nd Round of the FIVB Volleyball Men's World
Championship against Belgium.
Head-to-Head
· This is the fourth meeting between Belgium and Brazil at the World Championship, with Brazil winning 3-0 on all three previous occasions (1956, 1966, 1974).
· They also met twice in another world level major tournament, with Belgium winning in the 1968 Olympic Games and Brazil in the 2016 World League.
· World level major tournaments are Nations League, Olympic Games, World Championship, World Cup, World League and Grand Champions Cup.
Belgium
· Belgium won their second round match in straight sets against Australia on Saturday. They now have four victories and three defeats this tournament.
· They could set an outright team record of five wins at a single World Championship. They have four wins for the third time, after 1966 and 1970.
· Belgium could win back-to-back World Championship matches in straight sets for the second time, after beating Iran and Yugoslavia 3-0 on the trot in 1970.
· Sam Deroo scored 23 of Belgium's 81 total points. Igor Oskan Grobelny followed with 18 points, including a team-leading five stuff blocks.
Brazil
· Brazil won four matches and lost one in the first round before adding two straight-sets wins, against Australia and Slovenia.
· Brazil have won at least one set in each of their last 24 World Championship matches, after losing 3-0 against Bulgaria in 2010.
· Brazil have won their last three matches in straight sets. The last time they registered four straight 3-0 wins in a row within a single World Championship was in the 2006 edition (5 on the trot).
