Lausanne, Switzerland, October 25, 2017 – Cameroon and Morocco became the last two teams to reach the quarterfinals at the Italy-Bulgaria 2018 FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship CAVB African Qualifier.
Cameroon beat Nigeria 3-0 (26-24, 25-20, 25-19) on Wednesday to top the pool, while Morocco join them after the result meant they finished as runners-up.
They will now join Egypt, Tunisia, Algeria, DR Congo, Libya and Rwanda who reached the quarterfinals earlier in the tournament.
With the top three teams qualifying for the 2018 World Championship one more win will put the quarterfinal winners one victory away from qualifying.
Cameroon will meet Libya and Morocco will take on Tunisia. Egypt will play first time quarterfinalists Rwanda and Algeria will take on DR Congo.
The tournament doubles as the African Men’s Championship. Egypt are the defending champions and they are also hosting the tournament at the Cairo Stadium Complex from October 22 to 29.
At the Poland 2014 World Championship Cameroon, Egypt and Tunisia were CAVB’s three representatives.
