Bari, Italy, August 29, 2018 - Cameroon and Tunisia will play each other for the first time in the FIVB Volleyball Men's World Championship - a first for an all-African duel since 1982.
Head-to-Head
- Cameroon and Tunisia meet for the first time in a world level major competitions.
- This is the first all African fixture at the World Championship since 1982 when Libya and Tunisia met. Tunisia won 3-1.
- World level major competitions are: World Championships, Olympic Games, World Cup, World League, Grand Champions Cup and the Nations League.
- At the African Championships, these teams most recently met in the 2015 edition when Cameroon beat Tunisia 3-2 in the group stages.
Cameroon
- Cameroon will participate for the fourth time at the World Championship, after 1990 (15th), 2010 (13th) and 2014 (21st).
- Cameroon's 13th place in 2010 is the joint-best finish by an African team at the World Championship, alongside Algeria's 13th place in 1994 and Egypt's 13th place in 2010.
- Cameroon won only two of their 16 World Championship matches so far: 3-0 versus Venezuela in 1990 and 3-1 versus Australia in 2010.
- Since that victory over Australia in 2010, Cameroon have lost seven successive World Championship matches.
Tunisia
- Tunisia will make their ninth appearance at the World Championship. Their best result was a 15th place finish in 2006.
- Nine World Championship participations are a record for an African team. Egypt will also make their ninth appearance this edition.
- Tunisia have lost their last eight World Championship matches, since their 3-2 victory over Puerto Rico in 2006.
- Only once have Tunisia lost more successive World Championship matches: 19 from 1974-1982.
