The rosters include a host of stars who were awarded MVP awards at all the important continental, regional and world events in the last four-year cycle.

Heading the pack will be Russia's Maxim Mikhaylov, who was named Most Valuable Player when he led his side to the titles of both the 2017 European Championship and the inaugural FIVB Volleyball Nations League earlier this year.

Also amongst the stars are Canada's Nicholas Hoag (MVP at the 2015 NORCECA Championship) and USA's Micah Christenson (MVP at the 2017 NORCECA Championship).

USA setter Micah Christenson is one of the stars to feature in the 2018 FIVB World Championship.

Leading Argentina is Facundo Conte, who was named MVP at the 2015 Pan-American Games, while Yuki Ishikawa, MVP at the 2017 Asian Championship will spearhead Japan.

And Egypt's Ahmed Abdelhay, who was Most Valuable Player at the 2015 African Championship also features in the wide rosters of this year's World Championship.

The MVPs of both the last World Championship in 2014, Mariusz Wlazly of Poland, and of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, Sergio 'Serginho' Santos of Brazil have since retired from their respective national teams.

The World Championship begins on September 9 with the opening match between co-hosts Italy and Japan in Rome's iconic open-air Foro Italico. Pool play continues in cities across Italy and Bulgaria, before the top six teams converge on Turin for the final round, culminating in the medal matches on September 30.

It is the first time in the 69-year history of the event that the World Championships are jointly hosted by two countries.

The wide rosters will be reduced to the 14 players each team will register on the eve of the World Championship, that will see them through for the duration.
