Grobelny: "I am happy with my performance and first time in the starting six"

Florence, Italy, September 17, 2018 – Belgium easily routed the Dominican Republic 3-0 on Monday at Mandela Forum in Florence to secure their spot in the second round of the FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship 2018.

Andrea Anastasi, Belgium head coach: “This was an easy match, since they were already out of the competition, while we were concentrated and did our job. It is good that we did not suffer any injury and we are now ready for the second phase of the tournament.”

Igor Oskar Grobelny, outside hitter of Belgium: “I am pretty happy that I could play. It was important to stay focused even though the match was not that difficult in order to take three important points for the next round and to move up in the standing. I am ok with my personal performance, especially since this was my first time in the starting six.”

José Gutierrez Sanchez, Dominican Republic head coach: “First of all my congratulations to the Belgian team; they were very strong. They killed us with their serves and blocks. Now we are going to come back home happy for this experience and we will draft the programmes for the near future.”

Henry Tapia, opposite hitter of Dominican Republic: “We were very proud to represent our country with all our efforts and commitment to doing our best. We know we have to work hard to qualify for the next major international competitions. Thanks to Florence for the hospitality.”
