Moselhy Ibrahim: We achieved the victory and this is giving us hope for tomorrow

Ruse, Bulgaria, September 16, 2018 – Egypt achieved a really important first win in Pool B at the 2018 FIVB World Championship! The players coached by Mohamed Moselhy Ibrahim beat China 3-1 (28-26, 26-24, 17-25, 25-21) and ended their longest losing streak at this major volleyball event!

Mohamed Moselhy Ibrahim, coach of Egypt: “I am very happy that we have our first win in the tournament of course. We took three points from this match and this is giving us hope for tomorrow. The players today were very concentrated and I hope tomorrow they will have the same concentration and the same winning attitude. I want to thank them for the effort today. I think the match tomorrow will be very difficult. The Netherlands played a very good match against Brazil and they have a very good atmosphere in the team. I hope we will have a good reception to be able to respond to them properly.”

Hisham Ewais, player of Egypt: “It is our first win and I think this is just the beginning. We have another match tomorrow and this will be the most important game for us at this championship. We were focused today and we won. I think if we remain focused we will be able to win again. We lost our three matches by 3-0, so this victory give us some confidence.”

Raul Lozano, coach of China: “I think we do not have the experience to play in situations of advantage or in other words, how to win a set when we have more points than our opponent. We wasted a lot of chances today. If you do not see the chance, the other team sees it. I want to congratulate the team of Egypt, they were mentally stronger than us.”
