Russia look to bounce back

 

Bari, Italy, September 17, 2018 – Russia seek redemption after their 3-1 loss to USA when they face African side Cameroon in the 2018 FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship on Monday.

Head-to-Head
• This will be the second meeting between Russia (incl. predecessors) and Cameroon at the World Championship. In 2010, Russia won 3-0 in the first round.
• That is one of two previous meetings between these teams at world level major competitions, the other being a 3-0 Russia (then Soviet Union) win at the 1989 World Cup.
• World level major competitions are: World Championships, Olympic Games, World Cup, World League, Grand Champions Cup and the Nations League.

Russia
• Russia followed up straight set wins over Australia and Tunisia with a 3-1 defeat against United States in their third fixture at the 2018 World Championships.
• Russia have now lost four of their last seven World Championship matches (W3-L4), just as many as in their last 27 fixtures prior to this run (W23-L4).
• Dmitriy Muserskiy, Maxim Mikhaylov and Egor Kliuka all scored a team-high 13 points in Russia's 3-1 defeat against United States.
• Muserskiy has scored a total 41 points at the 2018 World Championships, at least 12 more than any other Russia player.

Cameroon
• Cameroon have lost all their three matches following their victory against Tunisia in their opening match.
• In total, Cameroon have won three of their 20 World Championship matches: 3-0 against Venezuela in 1990, 3-1 against Australia in 2010 and 3-0 against Tunisia this year.
• Cameroon could win multiple matches at a single World Championship for the first time.
• David Patrick Feughouo is Cameroon's top scorer at this World Championship on 51 points.
