Tunis, Tunisia, September 19, 2017- African giants Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco and Libya will compete for a place at the 2017 Men's African Nations Championship when they meet in a round-robin tournament in Tunis, Tunisia, from September 20 to 23. The African Nations Championship to be held in Cairo, Egypt from October 22 to 29 also serves as a qualifier for the 2018 FIVB Volleyball Men's World Championship.

Morocco prepared for the tournament at a camp in Turkey where they played four friendly matches against Turkish teams under the supervision of their new coach Eric Ngapeth.
The Algerian team, on the other hand, participated in the Islamic Games in Azerbaijan where they won bronze. The Tunisian and Libyan teams condensed their preparations into the last three weeks.
