Williams: "We are satisfied with the results we have achieved so far"

Bari, Italy, September 17, 2018 – Lincoln Williams took Australia to the next round of the FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship as their 3-1 victory over Tunisia made sure that the Volleyroos will finish fourth in Pool C. Tunisia are still winless and on Tuesday the reigning African champions will contest their last match in the tournament against USA.

Lincoln Alexander Williams, opposite of Australia: “We caught a slow start to this match; this round requires a strong focus and this can be quite exhausting. The second set saw us regrouping to rule the game and we eventually took three deserved points, meaning we secured the qualification to the second stage of the tournament. We are satisfied with the results we have achieved so far. Regardless of our young age, we managed to play challenging top-level opponents such as Russia and the United States head on. We look forward to starting the second round where we will be facing the strongest teams of this championship.”

Antonio Giacobbe, head coach of Tunisia: “It is difficult to understand the positives we can take from our experience in this competition. A defeat always causes bad feelings. In the match against Australia, we caught a good start indeed. After claiming the lead in the first set, we suffered the Australian comeback, as they made us struggle to withstand their dominance in attack. Tomorrow we will end this experience with a very hard challenge. We will take on the United States that many regard as one of the world’s top teams. We must play them with joy and serenity. You do not expect to come across such high-level teams and to play with them every day.”
