Tickets on sale for 2018 Men's World Championship in Italy and Bulgaria

 

Lausanne, Switzerland, February 15, 2018 - Tickets have gone on sale today for the highly-anticipated 2018 FIVB Volleyball Men's World Championship, the international governing body's flagship quadrennial event to be held in Italy and Bulgaria from September 9 to 30.

It is the first time in the almost 70-year history of the event that the World Championships are jointly hosted by two countries.

The competition will be played across a total of nine cities, including Bari, Bologna, Florence, Milan, Rome and Turin In Italy, as well as Ruse, Sofia and Varna in Bulgaria.

A total of 24 teams, including hosts Italy and Bulgaria, defending champions Poland, reigning Olympic champions Brazil and 2017 FIVB Volleyball World League champions France will compete in 94 matches for top honours.

Competition will open on September 9 with Italy hosting Japan in Rome's open-air Foro Italico.

The first phase sees the 24 teams compete round-robin in four pools of six. The top four teams of each pool advance to Round 2, which consists of four pools of four. The top-ranked teams of each of the second round pools qualify for the two three-team pools of Round 3, which will be followed by cross-wise semifinals and medals matches.
